Over 200 are still missing and Fourteen people have been died after a part of Nanda Devi glacier split off in Tapovan, Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli region, triggering heavy flooding of the Dhauliganga and Alaknanda rivers on Sunday forenoon.

The recent Glacier flooding disaster in Uttarakhand has forced the evacuation of hundreds and destroyed both houses and the nearby areas of Rishiganga. NTPC power projects also destroyed in the disaster.
This morning, Uttarakhand’s SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) removed the rubble and slush near Tapovan dam in Chamoli region as part of the rescue efforts at the tunnel. The State Disaster Response Force members had to wait to begin rescue operations because the level of a river is too high to begin the rescue operation for stranding people from the tunnel.
Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has also declared ₹ 4 lakh financial support to families of those died in the disaster. PM Modi also declared ₹ 2 lakh as financial support to the family of those died in the Glacier Disaster.
