Telegram surpassed Signal and WhatsApp to grow as the most downloaded app on Play Store. Telegram is the Most Downloaded non-gaming app Globally in January 2021.

After controversial privacy policies, WhatsApp has led to a huge reduction in its user base. Tapping on this, Signal and Telegram have seen tremendous downloads in the last several months.

As per the recently published data from Sensor Tower, Telegram has grown as the most downloaded non-gaming app globally in January 2021, with 24 per cent of the total installs from India, followed by 10 per cent of total downloads from Indonesia. Last month, this messaging app was installed 63 million times, which means India witnessed about 15 million new Telegram users in the month of January. If compared to the same month of 2020, then 3.8 times more downloaded this time.

While TikTok evolved as a close second followed by Signal and Facebook, WhatsApp pushed to the 5th spot from its earlier 3rd spot, in January.

The Telegram was placed at 9th spot in terms of downloads on Google Play in December. The app has also succeeded to penetrate the top-five downloads list on the Apple App Store.

The social messenger has also entered the list of top 10 most downloaded (non-game) apps on App Store, directly gaining the fourth position,” the Sensor Tower report said.

In order to increase users base, the Telegram app has also made it simple to migrate your WA chat history from WhatsApp to Telegram. Now, you don’t lose out on any important chat that you have on WhatsApp.
