Twitter Blue tick charges – $8/Month: The company’s Twitter Blue subscription will be updated, according to Elon Musk, the company’s new formal CEO. Musk originally stated that he wanted the Twitter Blue subscription to cost $19.99/month instead of $4.99/month and that he wanted the verification badge to become a benefit. However, the executive has obviously listened to customer complaints.

Musk stated his desire for Twitter Blue to cost $8 per month in a string of tweets earlier today. The existing “Twitter lords & peasants system” for determining who has or does not have a blue checkmark is “bullshit,” he wrote.

Musk wants to give Twitter Blue users other benefits in addition to a verified badge, such as priority in responses, mentions, and search, the option to submit longer video and audio files, and a reduction in the quantity of advertisements by half. A “paywall bypass for publishers willing to engage with us,” according to Musk, was also discussed.

Musk asserts that increasing the cost of Twitter Blue slightly while offering new benefits will also “provide Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.” By enabling video creators to commercialise their work, platforms like YouTube and Twitch already do this; however, Musk has not yet provided specifics of how that might function on Twitter.

Only the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand now have access to Twitter Blue; Musk will need to immediately consider expanding the service to new markets. Not to mention, it’s unclear how enabling anyone to pay to receive a verified badge will stop people from using other people’s identities on Twitter.
